CIPM23.1P/ON
Traditional Project management had final deliverables that are constrained to a finite timescale and budget. Simply saying it’s all about achieving objectives, and meeting customer requirements within time and budget.
However, during the pandemic, the world suffered due to the lock-down/slowdown worldwide forcing us to remodel our thinking. Though remote working had served to a certain extent the achievements are far from ideal. How this downturn affects project management as a whole?
We see the modern world as Volatile, Uncertain, Complex, and Ambiguous so we need Systems thinking approaches, Resilience at work, Agility in delivery, Adaptation to scenarios etc.…. Hence new PM discipline needs new breed, novel thinking with innovative ideas, paradigm shifts, and more entrepreneurial approach irrespective of the industry you engage in. But sadly, the modern PM is highly polarized as waterfall/traditional and agile methods in construction/manufacturing or IT/BPO sectors. This silo mentality prevents collaborating and sharing good practices.
